Donyland Lodge
  MP for the Day!

The day was organised to help with PSHCE lessons as young people have been looking at Citizenship and the importance of having their voices heard and opinions acknowledged.

The days events are detailed below (written by a student at Donyland):

"The morning went well, with everyone up on time and organised. We got the 7.30 a.m train from Colchester and arrived in London at 8.20 a.m.  We got the Circle Line tube to Westminster.

We started with a tour of Parliament, seeing the House of Commons and the House of Lords.  We were surprised how small they were, but they were beautifully decorated with gold and we could really feel their sense of purpose.

We saw statues of previous leaders and learned all about the history and background to Parliament, including Guy Fawkes.

We then took part in a workshop called ‘Your Voice', during which we had the opportunity to practice the voting process and try to persuade various members of Parliament (played by us) of our opinions.  We learned about the different ways of persuading people of our opinions and the voting process.

We had lunch and then had a trip on the London Eye!!

On the way back 'K' insisted that we see some further sights of London by going the long way back to Liverpool Street on the Circle Line. We all agreed and thoroughly enjoyed the journey! We arrived back at 4.45 p.m. Well done everyone-it was an amazing day!!!!!!!!
