Donyland provides an experience in which, over a long-term placement young people are supported to make the transition from childhood to adulthood. This transition must acknowledge the relationship between the often delayed developmental stage the young person has arrived at and their actual stage of progress through adolescence. 

To provide meaningful transitions, the three homes for accommodation at Donyland: The Lodge, The Stables and The Stores, correspond to the Early, Middle and Late stages of adolescence. This device provides a structured journey that symbolically marks out each stage of development motivating the young person's progress towards maturity and independence.
